Scale Oxford is an SEO agency in Oxfordshire for businesses right across the county, from Banbury and Bicester to Witney, Abingdon and Didcot. Our organic SEO packages begin at £1,200 a month, and you are never tied into a long contract.

01
Scale Oxford is founded and run by Oxford graduates.
Our team has worked on SEO for L’Oréal, Lacoste and Jotform, among others. A business in Bicester or Witney gets the same people and the same method.
A Scale Oxford co-founder co-manages your SEO, so the person who agreed the plan with you is still working on it months later.
Message us the way you would message a colleague. We reply in 7 minutes on average, wherever in Oxfordshire you are.
There is no minimum term. SEO has to earn its place every month, and if it stops doing that for your business, you can simply stop.
Our Oxfordshire SEO packages start at £1,200 a month, and every price is listed further down this page.

Search engine optimisation is the work of getting your business found on Google when people nearby look for what you sell. For an Oxfordshire business that usually means two sets of results: the map listings at the top of a local search, and the ordinary organic results underneath them. Most businesses need to appear in both.
We cover the whole of it. We choose which searches to target in each town you serve, fix what holds your website back, write the pages and articles those searches call for, and build the local mentions that tell Google you are a real business in that place.
We set up and look after your Google Business Profile, including its categories, service areas and photos, and keep your name, address and phone number identical everywhere they are listed, so Google can trust the details it shows.
We write service pages and articles around the questions people in your area actually type, in the words your customers would use, not keyword lists dressed up as sentences.
We find and fix what stops your pages being crawled, indexed or loaded quickly, from broken links and heavy images to pages that do not work properly on a phone.
We earn links and mentions from Oxfordshire sites your customers already trust: local business groups, suppliers, sponsorships, and the county’s own directories and press.
If you serve several towns, we write a page for a town only when there is something real to say about your work there. Pages that only swap the town name are a pattern Google treats as spam, and we do not build them.
Your report shows how you appear to people searching in each town you serve, not only in Oxford, along with the visits and enquiries organic search brought in.

Reachable like a colleague, not a support ticket.
Local business. A clinic, a dealership, a restaurant group: the demand is already here and already looking.
Ecommerce. A shop that sells online: most of the work is buying the demand and keeping the store fast.
SaaS. Software sold by subscription: found on its own terms, and sold to as well as marketed at.
Manufacturer. A business that sells to other businesses in volume, where the order comes after a conversation.
B2B services. A firm that sells expertise: most of the effort is starting conversations with the right people.

Where the work goes depends on your business, your margins and where your customers already are. This is one example, not a fixed package. We work it out with you before anything begins, and go through it again every month.

Google says its local results depend mainly on three things: how relevant a business is to the search, how far it is from the person searching, and how well known it is. Distance is the one that makes Oxfordshire different. Someone looking for a plumber in Banbury is shown Banbury plumbers first, whatever happens to rank in Oxford that day.
So the county is not one market but several smaller ones. A search in Didcot and the same search in Banbury show different businesses, and in many of the smaller towns there are fewer of them competing for the top places than there are in central Oxford.
It also means an Oxford address will not carry a business across the county on its own. If your customers are in Witney, Bicester or Thame, your Google Business Profile, your website and the places your business is mentioned all have to show that you work there.

Each town asks for a slightly different plan. Here is how the work changes as you move around the county.
Banbury sits at the north of the county on the M40, close to the Northamptonshire and Warwickshire borders. Many businesses here take work from both sides of those lines, so we set your service area and pages by where customers really come from, not by where the county ends.
Bicester Village brings in visitors from far beyond the town, while new housing keeps adding residents. The two groups search for very different things, so we aim your pages at whichever of them you actually serve.
Witney is the largest town in West Oxfordshire, on the A40 at the edge of the Cotswolds. Customers around it often search by the wider area or by the nearest village, so we target those names wherever you do real work.
Abingdon-on-Thames is close enough to Oxford that a business here can compete for some Oxford searches as well as its own. We track both, then put the effort where the enquiries come from.
Didcot is near Harwell Campus and Milton Park, home to many science and technology firms. Their buyers are often national, so for B2B companies there the work leans towards content and authority rather than map listings.
Smaller towns such as Henley-on-Thames, Thame, Wantage and Chipping Norton have fewer businesses chasing each search, which often makes them the quickest places to be seen. We work with businesses anywhere in the county.

£1,200/month
For Oxfordshire businesses whose websites get little search traffic today. We set up your Google Business Profile and technical foundations, then publish the first pages and earn the first local mentions for the towns you serve. A sensible way to find out whether search can become a steady source of enquiries.
Get in touch£1,750/month
For websites already past 5,000 visits a month. The work shifts towards more content and stronger authority, so you can compete for busier searches across the county and beyond, with the aim of beating your current monthly traffic and enquiries.

For businesses with several locations, a large website, or a mix of local and national searches. We look at what you need first, then agree one monthly price for the work.

It depends on how competitive your searches are and how many towns you want to be found in. At Scale Oxford, SEO starts at £1,200 a month for businesses starting from scratch and £1,750 a month for established sites, with custom pricing for larger projects. There is no minimum term, so you can stop whenever you like.
Yes. We work with businesses anywhere in Oxfordshire, and beyond it. Most of the work happens over calls and messages, so being in Banbury or Henley rather than Oxford makes no difference to how quickly we respond. If you would rather meet in person, our office is in Oxford.
Local SEO is about the map listings and your Google Business Profile, which appear at the top of searches with a place in them. Organic SEO is about the ordinary results underneath, which depend on your website’s pages, content and links. Most Oxfordshire businesses need both, and our packages cover both.
Only where you have something genuine to say about your work in that town, such as jobs you have done there, how you serve it or how quickly you can get there. Pages that repeat the same text with the town name swapped are what Google calls doorway abuse, and they can hold the rest of your site back.
For the map listings, yes: without one you cannot appear there at all. If you visit customers rather than having them come to you, you can list the areas you serve and hide your address, which suits builders, plumbers, cleaners and other businesses that travel to their customers across the county.
Usually less time than in central Oxford, because fewer businesses compete for each search. We aim for the first movement within the first month, and smaller towns are often where it shows first. Busier searches and bigger towns take longer, which is why we plan the work town by town.
